What to Know About the University Foundation Program

Education is the key to success. This is a phrase that people have taken as their guide towards having a successful life. Though there is no end to educate the world today dictates that for one to be able to get stable jobs he or she must at least have some form of university education. In Britain, this has been the case for a number of years. This is why different methods came up so as to allow several people to acquire higher education. It is however necessary to choose the shortest route possible. This is why the university foundation program came up. Compared to the prior A-level course, which usually takes two years, this program only takes a year.

University foundation program structure

This program is usually abbreviated as UFP in some instances. The main reason as to why this program came into existence is to provide an alternative to the A-level course for any prospective international students who want to gain access to British universities. This course is highly advisable for the students whose are not native speakers.


The students are supposed to study six modules in total which are mainly categorized into two. The first categorization is the core minor modules. This mainly constitutes of mathematics, information technology and English. The second categorization is the modules that are based in accordance to the degree that the student wishes to attend. These modules are evenly spread over 32 weeks. Both of these modules have some form of credit points in which act as the assessment over the course.
